New Ocelot, Bird Peterson, And Flosstradamus Remixes

Posted in Bird Peterson, Flosstradamus, Heartsrevolution, Ocelot by whackatone on March 21, 2008

I’ve been obsessed with Ocelot for a good bit of time now. Their remixes are absolute fire without fail and originals such as “This is Our Time” are absolutely filthy. And relatively recently I’ve fallen for anything and everything Bird Peterson touches (see: appallingly good Wu-Tang edits). Much to my elation, the Austin cats met up and did work on an AKA’s track.

After an introductory period composed simply of rapid fire electronic twitters and simply repeated lyrics, the boys kick in that spicy, heavy synth we’re all waiting to hear. Though there isn’t an overwhelming build-to-drop sequence, this is the kind of cut that doesn’t even need one – if this thing got much heavier it would probably ruin faces. In other the words, it’s heavy, it’s fresh, and it’s good.

I totally missed that whole Heartsrevolution remix bandwagon, but now I’m hopping on. What sparked the change? A Flosstradamus remix, of course. The instrumentals in their rework are sophisticated and variant enough to keep the listener entirely engaged throughout. Honestly, this is one of my favorite remixes for some time. I’m really starting to tire to the rework game (so please send me recommendations of good artists that won’t just make me dance like an idiot), but I don’t think I could ever tire of this lil’ guy right here. So bumpin’.
